Albany Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Cocaine Possession

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JERMAINE HICKS, 32, of Albany, NY was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 3 years post release supervision by the Honorable Thomas Breslin. HICKS must also forfeit vehicles used during the commission of his criminal acts.

In July, HICKS pled guilty to (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3 rd Degree, a Class “B” Felony.

On June 15, 2009, members of a task force consisting of Albany Police, DEA, FBI and ATF executed a search warrant at an apartment complex located at 400 Central Avenue pursuant to a six month long investigation. While searching the apartment, police recovered a kilo and half of cocaine and instruments establishing intent to sell the cocaine.

Street Crimes Bureau Chief Francisco Calderon and Public Integrity Bureau Chief Eric Galarneau handled the long-term investigation and prosecution of this case.
