Facing Trial on Monday, Antoni Williams Pleads Guilty to January Murder

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that ANTONI WILLIAMS, 26, of Albany, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” Violent Felony in front of the Honorable Stephen Herrick. Under the terms of the plea bargain, WILLIAMS faces to 23 years in prison and 5 years post release supervision.

“This case is a perfect example of great police work, diligent prosecutor conduct and the benefits of using plea bargaining. Faced with the overwhelming evidence that was to be presented at trial next week, the defendant chose to plead guilty to the charges. He will spend the next quarter century in prison and the police, prosecutor and judge can now spend those resources on prosecuting other defendants,” commented DA Soares.

On January 12, 2008 at approximately 6:55 P.M. in the area of 354 Elk Street in the City of Albany, ANTONI WILLIAMS killed Alfred Tirado by stabbing him multiple times.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Cheryl Fowler handled the prosecution of this case.
