Albany Man to Get 10 Years for Gun Possession ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that QOYA JONES, 20, of Albany, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. In accordance with the terms of the plea bargain, JONES faces 10 years in prison and 5 years post release supervision when sentenced in November. On May 21, 2008 at 9:38 A.M. QOYA JONES and a co-defendant attempted to enter a home and steal property and money from the residents. Officers responded to the scene and JONES pointed a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun at the officers. JONES and the co-defendant were taken into custody and the gun recovered.
