Office of the District Attorney Albany Man Found Guilty of Assault and Burglary, Faces 25 Years ALBANY, NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that NAKIA ROSE, 24, of Bronx, NY, was found guilty after a jury trial before the Honorable Stephen Herrick. ROSE faces up to 25 years when sentenced in January. On or about May 25, 2007, at approximately 7:30 P.M. on Beverly Avenue, Albany, ROSE and co-defendant DAMION TYRELL, 26, of Patterson, NJ, stole approximately $2,186.00 after shooting a male victim several times. They were later apprehended on the New York State Thruway. “Today’s verdict was rendered as this city mourns the loss of a young life. Preying on the innocent in this County will be met with serious consequences as evidenced by this conviction. We will not cede any ground to violent criminals. I want to thank Bruce Lennard, the Albany Police and our jurors for helping to improve public safety and restore confidence in our community,” commented DA Soares. The jury found ROSE guilty of (1) count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class “B” Felony, (2) counts of Robbery in the First Degree, a Class “B” Felony, (1) count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony, (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony, and (1) count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a Class “E” Felony.
