Office of the District Attorney Child Rapist Sent to Prison for 11 Years ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that GERALDO RAGLAND, 19, of Albany, NY, was sentenced to 11 years in prison and 15 years post release supervision by the Honorable Thomas Breslin. Between September 7, 2006 and March 31, 2007, RAGLAND engaged in numerous acts of sexual conduct, including anal intercourse, with a 7-year-old child. RAGLAND would bribe the child to perform these acts by offering rewards such as dolls and candy. RAGLAND also threatened the child with harm if she told anyone. In August, RAGLAND pled guilty to (1) count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a Class “B” Felony. “This defendant repeatedly engaged in unspeakable acts with a child through the use of bribery and threats. He is a clear and present danger to our community and I am very pleased that he will spend the next decade in prison where he will be unable to harm another child,” commented DA Soares.
