DA’s Domestic Violence Advisory Board Announces DV Month Awareness Initiatives

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that the Domestic Violence Advisory Board, made up of representatives from The Legal Project, Equinox, Albany Law School, the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the Crime and Victims Sexual Violence Center, the Albany County Coalition Against Domestic Abuse and the Office of the Albany County District Attorney, will be hosting events to celebrate October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Since 1987, October has been observed as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During this month, the efforts of committed organizations are highlighted and recognized in order to increase public awareness about domestic violence and the needs of women and children who have been abused.

  • The theme of this year’s celebration is “In Their Shoes”. From October 1st through October 31st, there will be a display in the window of the Daily Grind on 204 Lark Street in Albany, featuring all kinds of shoes to represent the variety of domestic violence victims.
