Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares ALBANY, NY –District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that KEVIN MURPHY, 25, of 483 Hudson Avenue, Albany, NY was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class "A-1" Felony. On the 30th of April 2006, at 1AM, in front of Murphy's home at 483 Hudson Avenue, the Defendant and Joseph Jerome were involved in an argument and fistfight. MURPHY returned from his home with a knife and did, with intent stab Joseph Scott Jerome and caused the death of Mr. Jerome. DA Soares stated today that, "This was a senseless incident that did not have to occur. A street encounter has left one man dead and a grieving family. And another man is now headed to state prison for a long time. We thank the jury for their thoughtful deliberations." MURPHY faces a term of 25 years to life in prison. Sentencing will be December 12th, 2006 in front of Judge Thomas Breslin.
