DA Soares noted the fine and meticulous investigative work of the Albany Police Department and renewed call on the expansion of the existing DNA index offenses.

DA Soares added that today is the last day in the month of the nationally recognized, 'Domestic Violence Month'. "As far as this office is concerned, every month is Domestic Violence Month; violent sexual crimes against women continue to flow through this Office at an all too frequent pace. We have to take a harder look at improving the resources necessary to combat this trend of violence towards women - improving funding for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, increase the technicians at our state labs and resources and additional training for Law Enforcement. We have 11 more months to commit ourselves to this important issue."
