Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the sentence of 18 years of MALCOLM STOKES 18, of 29 Morris Street, Albany, NY on one (1) count of Assault in the First Degree, a class "B" Felony. On July 3rd, 2006, STOKES did create a grave risk of death to a one year child. STOKES caused physical injury to the victim who turned one years of age on July 1st, 2006. STOKES punched the victim multiple times in the head with a closed fist. Soares stated, "This Office will aggressively seek the highest amount of time and punishment for people like Mr. STOKES who torment and abuse children in this county. This little victim was punched in the face, beaten, burned, and neglected by adults with whom they should trust the most in their world." Soares continues, "The fact that Stokes tried to withdraw his plea, last week, shows the cowardly act of what a child abuser is. The child, who is presently in a coma, has injuries that include serious brain injuries and a lacerated liver." For further information contact: Rachel McEneny
