Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares P. DAVID SOARES, ALBANY COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY, announced today that : JASON RIDDICK a/k/a “SB”, age 24, pled guilty today before the Hon. Thomas Breslin to the charge of Manslaughter in the First Degree. Mr. Riddick was scheduled for trial on Monday, November 28, 2005. He had been previously indicted by an Albany County Grand Jury for the charge of Murder in the Second Degree. Mr. Riddick admitted in Court today that he shot and killed Jihhad Scales in the early morning hours of July 6, 2005. On January 18, 2006, the defendant will be sentenced to a term of twenty-five (25) years in State prison to be followed by a five (5) year period of post-release supervision. “Jason Riddick, on taking the life of Jihhad Scales, forfeited his own today. At the age of 24, he will be spending the best years of his life behind bars. I want our youth realize that no argument is worth the lethal response we’re seeing on our streets.
