Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Keith Kennedy To Be Sentenced Faces 8 Years for Heroin ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced that KEITH KENNEDY, 31, of 844 Estes Street, Durham, North Carolina will be sentenced tomorrow before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. KENNEDY pled guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3 rd Degree on September 21, 2005. He faces a term of eight years with three years of Post Release Supervision. KENNEDY was arrested on May 3 rd 2005 in a basement apartment at 95 North Manning Boulevard in Albany, NY as the result of an investigation undertaken by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. After making a number of controlled buys at KENNEDY’s address, Sheriff’s Department Deputies executed a search warrant on the house. When they entered the premises, they found KENNEDY in the bathroom flushing the product down the toilet. Deputies recovered a plastic bag containing over 2.2 ounces of pure heroin from the toilet and found on KENNEDY’s person 559 plastic bags, each containing a $25 hit of heroin. DA Soares reported that this was one of Albany’s major heroin dealers. “We estimate that KENNEDY had over $90,000 worth of heroin in his possession when the search warrant was executed. He also had an entire factory set up for the grinding, weighing, branding and packaging heroin for retail sale. I want to applaud the professionalism of the Albany County Sheriff’s Department which designed, implemented, and executed this investigation which resulted in KENNEDY being taken off the street for the next 8 years,” he said.
