Father Arraigned for Death of Infant

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that GREGORY MILGO, 29, of Albany, NY, was arraigned on nine counts including; (1) count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” Felony, (1) count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” Felony, (1) count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony, (4) counts of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “D” Felony, and (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class “A” Misdemeanor. MILGO faces 25 years to life in prison and was remanded into the custody of the Albany County Sheriff.

The indictment alleges that between approximately May 1, 2008 and May 13, 2008, GREGORY MILGO caused the death of his infant son, born approximately three months prematurely, by repeatedly and vigorously shaking the infant, which caused brain hemorrhaging. Additionally, MILGO failed to seek prompt and adequate medical assistance for the infant after infliction of these injuries.

The child’s mother, SASHA POOLE, was arraigned earlier this week on (1) count of Criminally Negligent Homicide, a Class “E” Felony, (1) count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class “D” Felony, and (1) count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class “A” Misdemeanor, in front of the Honorable Dan Lamont for failure to seek prompt and adequate medical assistance for the infant after the child was severely injured. POOLE faces a maximum of 7 years in prison and was released on $20,000 bail this morning.

ADA Shannon Sarfoh of Homicide and Special Victims Bureau Chief is handling the prosecution of this case.
