Third Teen Sentenced for Robbery of Elderly Albany Couple

ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that LEESA WALKER, 16, of Albany, NY, was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Honorable Thomas Breslin. In March, WALKER pled guilty to (1) count of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class “D” Felony.

A victim impact statement read last week during the sentencing of the two co-defendants, and again in court this morning concluded with, “I am sorry that you have chosen this path. These should be the most wonderful years of your life and I will pray that you realize how much you are throwing away. You should be doing fun things with your friends instead of attacking senior citizens. You need to know that if you had been successful with the robbery, you would have gotten $13.00. Do you think it was worth it?”

“These three young people committed this crime for $13. Split three ways, each of them would have received $4 and change. As the victim pointed out, it is very unfortunate that as result of their violent actions they will be spending the next several years incarcerated rather than enjoying what should be some of the best years of their lives,” commented DA Soares.

On February 24, 2008 at approximately 9:41 P.M. on McKinley Street in the City of Albany, LEESA WALKER, RACHELLE LIPSCOMB and STANLEY FELICIANO knowingly and unlawfully stole a purse belonging to an elderly victim by punching the victim and the victim’s elderly husband about the head and face causing the victims substantial pain and bruising.

LIPSCOMB and FELICIANO were sentenced last week and are currently serving 1 to 3 years in a juvenile facility.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Mark Harris handled the prosecution of this case.
