Albany Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Conduct A with Minor

ALBANY , NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DANIEL ROACH, 18, of Albany, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, a Class “ E ” Felony and (1) count of Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree, a Class “D” Felony by the Honorable Thomas Breslin. ROACH faces 4 years in prison and 10 years post release supervision when sentenced in July.

Between September 2007 and January 2008, ROACH forwarded email images of boys involved in sexual conduct and was in possession of numerous images containing obscene performances by boys less than 16 years old. The New York State Police were notified of the images sent by ROACH by his internet provider, AOL. During the investigation, Police learned that on February 10, 2008, ROACH engaged in anal sexual conduct with a 14-year-old child.

“This is the second man this week who will be going to prison for soliciting young people via the Internet for illegal sexual conduct. The anonymity provided by the Internet gives criminals the belief that they actions will go unnoticed, but I want to make it very clear that this Office will prosecute child predators, drug dealers and all criminals who use the Internet to break the law,” commented DA Soares.

ADA Christina Calabrese handled the prosecution of the case.
