Known Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty to Possession, Forfiets Drug Proceeds and BMW

ALBANY , NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that RICKY DURHAM, 39, of Albany, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the Second Degree, a Class “D” Felony, in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. DURHAM faces a cap of 3 years in prison when sentenced on July 7, 2008. Additionally, DURHAM must forfeit $49,000 and his vehicle, a BMW.

“In this instance, the doors of this residence were visibly reinforced and there were other telltale signs of drug activity that could be seen from the street. I would like to take this opportunity to ask all property owners in Albany County for their help in identifying and reporting properties that are being used for illegal activity. Any landlord that has questions about what to look for can call my office or attend a free training on May 16 th,” commented DA Soares.

On April 10, 2008 at approximately 3:28 P.M., Albany Police Officers executed a search warrant at 44 Ontario Street in the City of Albany. The Officers recovered 24 ounces of marihuana and other drug paraphernalia including a digital scale and baggies. Officers also noticed that there were several cameras set up in doors and windows, the doors to the residence were reinforced with steel plates and 2 X 4’s, and that the house was set up to include waiting room with a Play Station for those waiting to purchase marihuana. DURHAM and a co-defendant were in the residence when the search warrant was executed.

Street Crimes Bureau Chief Francisco Calderon is handling the prosecution of this case.
