Megan Vogel Pleads Guilty to DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that MEGAN VOGEL, 22, of Latham, NY, pleaded guilty to Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree and Operating a Motor V ehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. VOGEL now faces up to 7 years in prison. On December 23, 2006 at 9:40 pm at Second Avenue and 23 rd Street in the City of Watervliet, MEGAN VOGEL was driving a green Toyota Camry, while intoxicated, and as a result, operated the motor vehicle in a manner that caused the death of Donna M. Following the crash, it was determined that VOGEL had a BAC of .13. “This is a tragic incident that has prematurely ended one life, shattered the lives of two families and dramatically altered the life of a young woman who is now a convicted felon,” commented DA Soares. “Everyday, and especially now as we head into prom and graduation season, I urge anyone considering drinking and driving to remember this case - the victim, the defendant and their families - and think twice about getting behind the wheel.” ADA Mary Tanner-Richter from the Major Offense Unit handled the prosecution of this case. VOGEL will be sentenced on July 13, 2007 where it is expected that several members of the Rehm Family will speak. # # # For further information contact: Heather Streeter Orth
