Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Guilty Verdict in Trial of Transient Albany Burglar ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced that KEVIN HALL, 42, of Keene, NH, was found guilty by jury this afternoon after a trial presided over by the Honorable Thomas Breslin. HALL was found guilty of (1) count of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree. On October 16, 2006, KEVIN HALL knowingly entered a residence on Linden Road in the City of Albany and stole property including a Visa debit card. After being noticed by a vigilant homeowner who alerted police, HALL was later apprehended by the Albany Police Department with the aid of Finn the police dog hiding between two garbage cans. “I would like to thank the jury for their service to the citizens of Albany County and for taking another criminal off our streets,” commented DA Soares. “The combination of one alert citizen and good police work has prevented this criminal from victimizing anyone else. As we approach the summer months where people leave windows and doors open, I want to urge everyone to be vigilant about the safety of their home while they are at home and while away. I also want to encourage all citizens to call the police if they witness anything unusual or out of place in their neighborhoods. ” HALL will be sentenced on July 12, 2007. ADA Larry Wiest from the Major Offense Unit handled the prosecution of this case. # # # For further information contact: Heather Streeter Orth
