Baker Pleads to Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl

ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that RAKIM BAKER, 18, of North Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY plead guilty to (1) count of Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree before the Honorable Thomas Breslin. BAKER faces a no more than 13 years and no less than 12 years in prison, three years of post release supervision, he must register as a sex offender and agree to a 10 year no contact order of protection.

“Baker and the two other young men violated and tortured this victim bringing trauma and suffering into a young woman’s life that will never be forgotten. Baker is a violent and dangerous sexual predator who will be off our streets for a very long time,” commented DA Soares.

On November 15, 2006, at approximately 10:00 a.m. at 533 Third Street in Albany, NY, RAKIM BAKER, along with two co-defendants under the age of 15, lured a fourteen-year-old girl into the home of one of the co-defendants. BAKER raped the victim while the two co-defendants beat her, cut her hair with a pair of clippers and cut off all of her clothing. The victim then went to the home of a neighbor and the two co-defendants were apprehended on foot by police officers in the area.

ADA Christina Nolan from the Special Victims Unit handled the prosecution of this case.

Sentencing for BAKER is scheduled for June.
