Robert Coffey Pleas to 25 Years
ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that ROBERT COFFEY, 28, of 33 Church Road, Albany, NY has plead to (2) counts of Rape in the 1st Degree. He is scheduled for sentencing before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick on July 18, 2006.
In the first count, COFFEY admits to rape of a 14 year old female by luring her into his trailer on the guise of showing her his iguana, the victim was bound with plastic wrist ties. DNA Evidence connecting COFFEY to the victim was in evidence In the second count, the victim came forward after seeing COFFEY on television. From the testimony of the victim, COFFEY drugged his female victim at a local dance club, which made her become incapacitated, lead her into his truck, took her to an undisclosed place where he raped her. COFFEY then deserted his victim on a street.
District Attorney Soares stated today that COFFEY is a dangerous sexual predator. “We were able to achieve this tough sentence as a direct result of the forensic work up by the Guilderland Police and the courage of this young woman coming forward. It was our hope that the victims and their families can begin to heal and restore some semblance of a normal life. COFFEY will be incarcerated for a very long times, he is now a danger off our streets and out of our neighborhoods.
