Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Arraignment of Hashim Burnell
ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the arraignment of HASIM BURNELL,19, of Mountainview Terrace, Latham, NY on six counts including Murder in the 1 st Degree, two counts of Murder in the 2 nd Degree and three counts of Robbery in the 1 st Degree will take place Friday morning at 9:00 before the Honorable Stephen J. Herrick.. The Indictment alleges that on or about the 5 th Day of May, 2005, BURNELL entered apartment 303 of 1702 Western Avenue in the town of Guilderland with the intent to commit robbery and in the course of that robbery did shoot Todd Pianowski with a handgun causing his death. DA Soares said that that the quick apprehension of BURNELL resulted from top quality police work on the part of the Guilderland and the prompt coordination of all the law enforcement agencies involved including investigators from the DA’s Office and the State Police, the Parole Board and the County Coronor. He also mourned the damage to the victim’s family. “I know that it’s of little solace, but I do hope that the quick action in this case can bring some relief to those who loved Mr. Pianowski,” he said.
