Persistent Violent Felon To Receive 12 – Life For Burglarizing Elderly Albany Woman ALBANY , NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that EDWARD MORAN, 41, of Albany, pled guilty to Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree , a Class “D” Felony , in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. As a persistent violent felon, MORAN will receive 12 years to life in prison when sentenced in May. MORAN has previously been convicted of 4 felonies (2 violent) and 11 misdemeanors. Of the past 251 months, MORAN has spent 178.3 months incarcerated. On October 28, 2007 at approximately 5:00 A.M., on Buchanan Street in the City of Albany, MORAN broke into the home of an 86-year-old woman armed with a knife. When the victim came downstairs, MORAN demanded money from her. MORAN was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled. “Simply put this defendant is a villain who prayed on the weak. However, what he learned was that our senior citizen was anything but. Thanks to her courage, the vigilance of the Albany Police, New York State Parole and ADA Brad Sherman, he will have a lifetime to contemplate all the terrible decisions he has made ,” commented DA Soares.
