Armed Robber Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced that DEWEY K. SIMS, 18 of 333 First Street, Albany, NY was sentenced this afternoon by Honorable Stephen W. Herrick on (2) counts of Robbery in the Second Degree to ten years in Prison followed by three years of post release supervision. SIMS was found guilty after a trial on February 8, 2007 of robbing two victims at gun point on August 20 th, 2006 at 5:10 a.m. in front of 625 South Pearl Street. SIMS stole jewelry and property from the two victims. DA Soared stated today, “Mr. Sims thought he could use fear and intimidation to take advantage of the citizens of Albany County and that will not be tolerated by this Office. It is due to the courage of this community in speaking out and taking a stand against violent criminals that this dangerous man is off of our streets tonight.” The Albany Police Department handled the investigation and ADA Frank Calderon from the Street Crimes Unit handled the prosecution of this case.
