Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares NYC Drug Dealers Busted – Face 15 Each ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the indictment of ISMAEL VARGAS, 28, and LINDA VALENTIN, 22, both of Bryant Avenue , Bronx , NY on four c ounts including Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 2 nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2 nd and 3 rd Degrees and Resisting Arrest as a Misdemeanor. Both defendants face a maximum of 26 years with 5 years Post Release Supervision. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, 2006 . VARGAS and VALENTIN were arrested as the result of careful police work. Officers from the NYS Police Community Narcotics Enforcement received a tip that there was a group of individuals bringing cocaine up from New York City for sale in Albany . On February 21, 2006 , the confidential informant called the defendants and expressed a desire to purchase 100 grams of cocaine. After subsequent phone calls, the CI met with the defendants in the parking lot of Crossgates Mall and received 60 grams of cocaine, promising to pay for it later. They then arranged for a second purchase. On or about the 7 th day of March, 2006, State Police Officers intercepted the defendants on the NYS Thruway in the Town of Bethlehem, NY. At that point the defendants were arrested for the initial sale at Crossgates and, when a search of the defendant’s person revealed an additional 60 grams of cocaine, they were charged with the Criminal Possession counts. DA Soares thanked the State Police for their first class work. “This is the kind of cross jurisdictional law enforcement work which is required by the highly mobile drug dealers that we are confronting all the time,” Soares said.
