DA Soares Announces Two Key Appointments

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the hiring of Carmelo Laquidara and Rebecca M. Bauscher.

With the new hires, the District Attorney is taking an initial step in building his team. “I promised the people of Albany that I would bring the best and brightest to work for this office. These two individuals stood out from the hundreds of resumes that we have reviewed”, he said. “I feel that in this aspect of my job, I am like a General Manager of a sports team. Just as a General Manager looks to assemble a team of the best available athletes, so am I looking to assemble a team of excellent legal minds, complimentary areas of expertise, and an aggressive pro-active attitude towards fighting crime.”

Rebecca M. Bauscher received her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in May 2002. Her experience includes internships with the Office of Assemblyman Crag Doran in 1998 and the Charities Bureau of the NYS Attorney General’s Office from October 2000 through April 2002. After nineteen months in private practice she joined the Rensselaer County’s District Attorney’s Office in August 2003 until her recent resignation. While in Rensselaer, Ms. Bauscher was the ADA responsible for the case load in the Domestic Violence Court. She will be responsible for helping establish a similar court here in Albany County.
