ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the Guilty verdict in the trial of RYAN WALLACE, 23, of Rockland Center, NY. WALLACE was found guilty of Criminal Sales of a Controlled Substance after a trial before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. The indictment alleged that on February 4, 2004, the defendant, a former SUNY student, sold an once and a half of crack cocaine for $1500 to confidential informant working for the Drug Enforcement Agency. District Attorney Soares pointed out that this conviction illustrates the changing face of drug dealing. “It’s not just the kid on the corner anymore,” he said, “here all the principle players in this trial, the defendant, our confidential informant and the defendant’s primary witness were all enrolled in SUNY Albany.” “Cocaine use knows no socio-economic boundaries.” Soares continued. WALLACE faces a range of three to twelve years to life. WALLACE was remanded directly to the Albany County Jail pending sentencing which is scheduled for April 18th, 2005.
