DA Soares Announces Preliminary Results of Checkpoints Last Night ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the preliminary results of the 16-agency enforcement action that took place last night throughout Albany County. “I would like to thank our partners in law enforcement for the professionalism and cooperation displayed during the checkpoints last evening. Your dedication to public safety should be commended and I sincerely appreciate your willingness, despite inclement weather, to ensure that the streets of Albany County are the safest streets in New York State,” commented DA Soares. Beginning at 8:00 PM last evening and ending at 1:00 AM, over 100 members of the 16-agency task force set up seven checkpoints at the following locations:
There were also roving checkpoints throughout the county. Preliminary results indicate that there were approximately 24 arrests for alcohol and drug related offenses and dozens of other violations issued during the 5 hour period. All charged individuals enjoy the presumption of innocence and it is the burden of the people to prove them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
