Albany County District Attorney, State Agencies and Local Law Enforcement Announce Multiple Albany County Sobriety Checkpoints Tomorrow Night ALBANY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that 16 Albany County Law Enforcement and State Agencies will be conducting a DWI enforcement effort tomorrow evening. The sobriety checkpoints will be conducted by a multi-agency task force in an effort to cut down on alcohol related and other unsafe driving practices. WHO: A 16-agency task force consisting of members of the Office of the Albany County District Attorney, the Albany County Sherriff’s Department, the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Albany Police Department, the Altamont Police Department, the Bethlehem Police Department, the Cohoes Police Department, the Colonie Police Department, the Coeymans Police Department, the Green Island Police Department, the Guilderland Police Department, the Menands Police Department, the Watervliet Police Department, and the University at Albany Police Department. WHAT: Multiple sobriety checkpoints around Albany County WHEN: The evening of Thursday, June 18, 2009. These checkpoints complete a two-part DWI Refresher Training course conducted by the Office of the Albany County District Attorney, the New York State Police and Albany County Stop DWI. In order to participate in the course, officers were required to attend one of two day-long instructional components and take part in the sobriety checkpoints scheduled for tomorrow evening. Forty officers from multiple agencies took part in the training over the last two weeks. Two previous four-hour sobriety checkpoints conducted by this task force yielded over 50 alcohol related arrests and 450 other infractions.
