Albany County District Attorney, Community Members to Launch S.A.L.T. Initiative ALBANY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that local elected officials, law enforcement and multiple agencies from around Albany County will join District Attorney Soares to introduce the Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) Initiative and Senior Advisory Council. The event will be lead by a diverse group of speakers to inform the public about crimes against senior citizens and how this initiative will address these concerns. WHO: Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares, Representatives from Equinox, Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC), Adult Protective Services, The Eddy, St. Peter’s Hospital, Law Enforcement Agencies from around the county and Local Elected Officials. WHAT: An overview of the newly created S.A.L.T. Initiative, Senior Advisory Council and how these programs will assist in fighting crimes of elder abuse and the exploitation of senior citizens. WHERE: St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Rd Albany, NY 12208. WHEN: Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. Through S.A.L.T., the Office of the Albany County District Attorney provides care to elderly crime victims by assigning an Assistant District Attorney and a Crime Victim Advocate to work with elder abuse cases from their inception bringing services directly to them. The Senior Citizen Advisory Council is a joint collaboration between seniors, law enforcement, and organizations and agencies that serve older adults who share a goal of reducing elder crime, abuse, neglect and exploitation with a strong emphasis on information sharing.
