15 Year Old Indicted For Murder of Kathina Thomas

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JERMAYNE TIMMONS, A.K.A. “MAINE”, 15, of Albany, NY, was indicted by the Grand Jury on five counts including; (2) counts of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” Felony, (1) count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” Felony, (1) count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony and (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Violent Felony. TIMMONS faces 15 years to life in prison.

“This vote by the grand jury today is only the beginning of the criminal justice process for Mr. Timmons. We must have continued cooperation from our community, and more specifically those who witnessed the shooting that evening, to hold this individual accountable for his reckless actions,” commented DA Soares.

The indictment alleges that on May 29, 2008 at approximately 8:15 P.M. in the area of First Street in the City of Albany, JERMAYNE TIMMONS fired a loaded handgun at individuals running away from him, causing the death of Kathina Thomas.

TIMMONS is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Homicide and Special Victims Bureau Chief Dave Rossi is handling the prosecution of this case.
