District Attorney Soares Provides Police Officers with Bulletproof Vests

WHO : Albany County District Attorney David Soares, Green Island Police Chief Chris Parker, Albany County Legislature Public Safety Chair Sean Ward and members of the Albany County Law Enforcement Community

WHAT: DA Soares will present much-needed bulletproof vests purchased with asset forfeiture funds from the Making Crime Program to the Green Island Police Department

WHERE : Green Island Police Department, 73 George Street , Green Island, NY 12183

WHEN : Tuesday, June 3, 2008, 4:15 P.M.

Additional initiatives funded through the “Making Crime Pay” program include:

  • Purchasing Guns, Plate Readers and other crime fighting technologies for local law enforcement agencies;
  • Providing two way radios and flash lights to support Neighborhood Walk and Watch programs in Cohoes, Delmar, Watervliet, Van Schaick Island, and the City of Albany;
  • Scholarships for State and Local Police for specialized training;
  • The “Bring it to the Courts” Basketball League and other Youth Crime Prevention Programs; and
  • Continuing education for prosecutors.
