Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares ALBANY, NY– District Attorney P. David Soares announced that JALLAH McCALL, 15, of 59 Central Avenue, Albany, NY was sentenced today to 3 to 6 years in state prison, by the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. On December 30th, 2005, at approximately 9 PM, MCCALL purchased a knife in Crossgates Mall and approached the victim in the parking lot at One Crossgates Road, Guilderland. MCCALL with intent, caused multiple lacerations to the victim’s face, by slashing with the newly purchased knife. This resulted in permanent scarring, swelling and bruising. MCCALL was arrested shortly after by Guilderland Police. MCCALL plead guilty to one (1) count of Assault in the 1st Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony. In doing so, he waived his Youthful Offender Status, however not his Juvenile Offender Status which is the reasoning behind the time range of sentence. DA Soares said that this was a significant sentence but added that he was concerned with the purchase of a weapon by a 14 year old in Crossgates Mall. “This violent act, has left one youth’s face scarred and the other sentenced to spend a great deal of time in state prison.” Back to Press Releases For further information contact: Rachel McEneny
