Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Chapman Sentenced to Robbery of Cabdriver ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that ROGER J. CHAPMAN 16, of 29 Emmett Street, Albany, NY has been sentenced to Robbery in the First Degree, a class “C” felony. CHAPMAN will serve eight (8) years in state prison, three (3) years Post Release Supervision. Chapman was in custody and returned to State Prison. In pleading guilty, CHAPMAN admitted to attempting to rob an Albany Cabdriver on January 15, 2006. The victim was threatened with a handgun, stabbed multiple times in the leg resulting in a severed artery. The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center, operated on, and eventually released. Cole-Cox and Douglas sentenced to Gun Charges In separate incidents, CHARLES COLE-COX, 16, of 1372 Broadway, Rensselaer, plead guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm, a class “E” Felony. On January 7, 2006, COLE-COX was standing by a vehicle in front of his grandmother’s home on Morris Street, Albany. New York State Police observed suspicious behavior of COLE-COX looking at an unknown object. When the Troopers approached, COLE-COX walked away from Police and threw a loaded .380 automatic handgun into the street. He was sentenced to One and half (11/2) years in State Prison and One (1) Year Post Release Supervision. AUNRI DOUGLAS, 16, of 31 Beverly Avenue, Albany, plead to Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a class “D” Felony. On November 23, 2005, DOUGLAS was found with a Beretta handgun on Loudonville Road, Albany, “cutting through” residence’s backyards. DOUGLAS will spend the next two (2) years in State Prison, One (1) Year Post Release Supervision. DA Soares stated today that “ROGER CHAPMAN, AUNRI DOUGLAS, and CHARLES COLE-COX are 3 young men who made extremely bad choices. All three teenagers are going to state prison at a time when they should be looking at colleges. I am concerned about the access to handguns in our city and the apathy towards the violence in our community. This has to stop.
