Jon Allin Guilbault Indicted for Murder, Faces 25 to Life for Fatal DWI Crash

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JON ALLIN GUILBAULT, 36, of 217 Gardener Hill Road, East Nassau, NY was arraigned today on 7 counts including Murder 2nd Degree, Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd, Criminally Negligent Homicide, and two counts of DWI before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. Bail was set at $125,000.

If convicted on the top charge, GUILBAULT faces a sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison.

The charges stem from a motor vehicle collision which took place on or about the 23rd day of March, 2006, at approximately 11:05 PM on State Route 9w in the Town of Bethlehem, NY. GUILBAULT is accused of having caused the death of Stacey A. Teidman, a passenger in his vehicle, when he drove his truck in a reckless and dangerous manner while under the influence of alcohol.

GUILBAULT was observed by an Officer from the Coxsackie Police Force driving in a reckless manner. This Officer attempted to pull him over, but GUILBAULT fled north on 9w reaching speeds in excess of 100 MPH. He ultimately lost control, left the road, striking two utility poles, resulting in the death of Stacey Teidman. A blood test revealed that GUILBAULT was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

“It’s every person’s nightmare to have a loved one killed by the actions of a drunk driver”, said DA Soares. “This was not an accident,” the DA added.
