Earl Pittman Pleas to Two Crimes

ALBANY, NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares today announced t hat EARL PITTMAN, 24, of 355 Orange Street, Albany, NY had plead guilty to two separate crimes before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. PITTMAN plead guilty to one count of the Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. He also entered into a Superior Court Information (SCI) plea for one count of Robbery in the 2 nd Degree. He faces eight years for the robbery and four to eight years on the Possession charge. The two terms will be served concurrently.

PITTMAN had been arrested and indicted for the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell on October 15, 2004. He was subsequently arrested for robbery on April 2 nd 2005 when he stole cash and a Trek bike from a victim at 420 Orange Street while wielding a dangerous weapon. Both cases were prosecuted by Tiffany Rutnik of the Street Crimes Bureau.

DA Soares said that these cases were a perfect example of the efficiencies of integrating gangs, guns, and drugs into a single Street Crimes Bureau. “All too often, the same individuals who deal drugs are guilty of other crimes including robbery, burglary, and assault. By coordinating the prosecution of these crimes, we are able to achieve efficiencies in prosecution along with longer sentences to keep these thugs off the street,” he said.
