Albany Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Cocaine, Will Receive 12 Years in Prison

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JERMAINE HICKS, 32, of Albany, NY pled guilty to (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3 rd Degree, a Class “B” Felony in front of the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin.

On June 15, 2009, members of a task force consisting of Albany Police, DEA, FBI and ATF executed a search warrant at an apartment complex located at 400 Central Avenue pursuant to a six month long investigation. While searching the apartment, police recovered a kilo and half of cocaine and instruments establishing intent to sell the cocaine.

In accordance with the plea agreement, HICKS will receive 12 years in state prison and three years post release supervision when sentenced in September. HICKS will also forfeit several vehicles used during the commission of his criminal acts.

Street Crimes Bureau Chief Francisco Calderon and Public Integrity Bureau Chief Eric Galarneau handled the long-term investigation and prosecution of this case.
