Guilty Plea for Allan Oliver

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that ALLAN OLIVER, 20, of 90 Morton Avenue, Albany, NY has plead guilty to all 4 counts of the original indictment.  The Four Counts include two (2) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class “B” Felony, One (1) count of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a Class “C” Felony, and Criminally Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.

The indictment alleged that OLIVER on the 24th of March 2006 did knowingly possess and unlawfully sell narcotics out of his home on 90 Morton Avenue.  In addition, OLIVER had in his position a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia for the unlawful purpose of manufacturing, packaging, and dispensing crack cocaine.

DA Soares stated today that “Morton Avenue was once a vibrant community known for it’s proximity to its beautiful parks. The drug houses along the Morton Avenue corridor have destroyed the quality of life for the families there. Mr. Oliver, through his trade, was destroying lives and taking that community down block by block. We have to remember that despite the urban decay, and refuse people see as they drive through that area, there are great people residing there and they’re worth fighting for. Mr. Oliver faces 9 years in state prison and I hope Mr. Oliver will take the time to consider that his crimes were not victimless.

OLIVER faces up to 9 years in prison.  He will be sentenced in front of the Hon. Stephen Herrick on August 29, 2006.
