Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Joseph Hyson Indicted on 4 Counts Including 2 Counts of DWI, Reckless Driving and Weapons Possession
ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JOSEPH HYSON, 39, of 9779 Route 81 Greenville, NY was indicted on four counts including two felony counts of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3 rd Degree, and Reckless Driving. On or about the 5 th day of April, 2005, at approximately 6:29 PM on State Route 32 in the Town of Westerlo, NY, HYSON was stopped for a variety of offenses including failing to keep right and speeding. The indictments allege that HYSON was legally intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop based on the Officer’s observation of his condition, his failing a variety of field sobriety tests and his subsequent failure of an ALCO/SENSOR test. DA Soares was particularly upset to about the time, place, and circumstances of this arrest. “HYSON was driving north on Route 32 in the Town of Westerlo. This is a two lane road at the approach of dusk when visibility is poor and HYSON was clearly endangering the lives of the many people who were returning to their homes after a day of work in the City,” he said. HYSON faces 2 1/3 to 7 years on the top count of the indictment. Back to Press Releases For further information contact: Richard Arthur
