Billips and Zimmerman Indicted on 8 Counts

ALBANY, NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JAMES NAHEEN BILLUPS, 27, of  388 Second Street, Albany, NY and WYATT NAQUAN ZIMMERMAN, 20, of 81-15 101 st Avenue, Queens, NY had been indicted on seven counts of Burglary in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree.

The indictments allege that between November 29, 2004 and December 22, 2004 BILLIPS and ZIMMERMAN committed seven burglaries in the City of Albany.  The string of burglaries was only halted when Detectives from the Albany Police Department executed a search warrant on BILLIPS’ home. BILLIPS wasn’t home at the time but, in fact, observed the Officers executing the warrant from across the street. Being experienced in these matters, BILLIPS left the City taking ZIMMERMAN with him. APD continued their investigation and located the two down in the State of Georgia. After an extradition battle they were picked up by the US Marshall Service on May 9, 2005 and returned to Albany.

BILLIPS and ZIMMERMAN each face up to fifteen years on each burglary count and seven years on the Criminal Possession of Stolen Property count.

Arraignment is scheduled for July 22, 2005.
