Clarence Jackson, aka Beano, Pleads Guilty

ALBANY, NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that CLARENCE L. JACKSON, 28 of 1076 Baker Avenue, Schenectady , NY plead guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick.

The Indictment alleged that on or about the 24 th day of March, 2005, at approximately 5:30 PM at 21 The Concourse in the Town of Bethlehem, JACKSON had on his person over 500 grams of crack cocaine which he was attempting to sell for $30,000. JACKSON was on federal probation for a conviction in November, 2000 for the distribution of cocaine.

DA Soares was pleased with the disposition of the case. “Clarence Jackson is a career criminal and a significant distributor of crack cocaine in the Capital District. I applaud the Sheriff’s Department’s Drug Interdiction Unit for targeting and capturing this guy,” he said.

Francisco Calderon of the Street Crimes Bureau represented the People.

JACKSON faces seven years in state prison and five years of post release supervision.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 7, 2005.
