Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Amanda Meyers to Enter Drug Court ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that AMANDA MEYERS, 24, of Clifton Park, NY today plead guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7 th degree, an A misdemeanor and agreed to enter the drug court process for a period of 12 to 18 months. MEYERS, formerly a school teacher in the Shenendahowa School District, had been facing up to seven years under an initial charge of Criminal Possession in the 5 th degree, a D felony. MEYERS had been stopped by State Police Investigator on June 24, 2005 for driving with an obstructed license plate and excessively tinted windows. During the course of the traffic stop, MEYERS was found to be in possession of over 1.5 grams of cocaine. DA Soares expressed admiration for the decision. “Drug Court is a rigorous and tough program. It requires that you get cleaned up and stay clean. It is the right and just solution for defendants such as Ms. Meyers. I wish her the best,” he said.
