7/28/05 Stephen Barrera Indicted on 4 Counts – Stephen Barrera, 41, of Schenectady, was indicted on four counts, including 2 counts of DWI, Evidence Tampering and Obstructing Governmental Administration. View
7/27/05 Major Drug Distributor Pleads Guilty – Robert L. Clark, 34, of Albany, and Kenya Cooley, 20, of Albany, both plead guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree. Clark has been in and out of jail constantly since 1988. Clark faces 8 years and Cooley faces 3 years. View
7/27/05 Soares Announces 20% Increase in SCI Pleas – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that based on preliminary 6 month figures, 235 felony cases were resolved through Superior Court Informations (SCI’s) for the first six months of 2005. This represents an increase of 20% compared to last year. View

7/22/05 Joseph Hyson Indicted on 4 Counts – Joseph Hyson, 39, of Greenville, was indicted on four counts, including 2 Counts of DWI, Reckless Driving and Weapons Possession. View
7/22/05 Car Jacking Arraignment – Shamsideen Robinson, 17, of Albany, had been arraigned in Albany Police Court today on counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Robbery in the 1st degree. View
7/21/05 Billips and Zimmerman Indicted on 8 Counts – the indictments allege that between November 29, 2004 and December 22, 2004 James Naheen Billups, 27, of Albany, and Wyatt Naquan Zimmerman, 20, of Queens, committed seven burglaries in the City of Albany. Both men are being indicted on seven counts of Burglary in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree. View
7/21/05 Michael Elston Sentenced to 27 years – Michael Elston, 16, of Buffalo, NY, was sentenced to 20 years for Rape in the First Degree and 7 years for Kidnapping in the Second Degree. The sentences will run consecutively. Elston was in Rensselaerville at the time of the rape. View
7/21/05 ‘Villain’ Pleads Guilty – Lavar Houtman, aka ‘Villian’, 18, of Albany, pled guilty to one count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree and a Violation of Probation. View
7/21/05 Soares Cracks Down on Identity Theft – Michael Craft, 38, of Wyantskill, was convicted on five counts including: Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree and four misdemeanor charges. View
7/19/05 Sentencing for Theresa Ann Pasquale Scheduled – Theresa Ann Pasquale, 42, of Albany, will be sentenced Monday, July 18, 2005. Pasquale had plead guilty to Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree. View
7/15/05 John Miller Arraigned for Failing to Register – John Miller, 32, of Albany, was arraigned today on 7 counts of failing to register as required for a Level One Sex Offender. View
7/13/05 Clarence Jackson, aka Beano, Pleads Guilty – Clarence L. Jackson, 28, of Schenectady, plead guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree. View
7/12/05 Jason Riddick Indicted For Murder – Jason Riddick, 23, of Bronx, was indicted on thee counts including Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second and Third Degrees. He faces a term of 25 years to life in prison. View
7/11/05 John Watson Pleads to Arson for Grand Street Fire – John Watson, 23, of Albany has pleaded guilty to two counts of Arson in the Second Degree. Watson faces a sentence of twelve years with five years of post release supervision. View
7/7/05 Amanda Meyers to Enter Drug Court – Amanda Meyers, 24, of Clifton Park, plead guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, an A misdemeanor and agreed to enter the drug court process for a period of 12 to 18 months. View
7/7/05 Richard D. Lilkas Sentenced for Drunk Driving and Reckless Endangerment – Richard D. Lilkas, 47, of Albany, was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 1 1/3 to 4 years for Driving While Intoxicated and 1 2/3 to 5 years for Reckless Endangerment. View
7/5/05 William Plante Indicted for Robbing the Blind – William Plante, 31, of Schenectady, was indicted on Grand Larceny in the 2nd and 3rd Degrees, Forgery, and Failure to File a Tax Return. If convicted on all counts, Plante faces up to 29 years in state prison. View
7/5/05 Schumer National Sex Registration Bill – By creating national standards, reporting requirements and notification procedures, this proposal will patch many of the holes that currently exist in the National Sex Offender registry maintained by the FBI. View
7/5/05 Statement by DA Soares on the Westervelt Verdict – This office has just accepted the jury’s guilty verdict in the trial of Eric Westervelt. While we are pleased with the result of the Westerveldt trial and hope that this result brings some sense of closure to the family of the victim, we would much prefer not to have these cases at all.
