Rapist Sent to Prison for 21 Years

ALBANY , NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DUNCAN TERRY, 37, of Albany, NY, was sentenced to 21 years in prison and 5 years post release supervision by the Honorable Dan Lamont.

Through a victim impact statement, the victim stated, “The life I led before this ever happened has been dramatically changed. The horrific act this person inflicted upon me and the savageness in which he derived his pleasure continues to haunt me everyday and will for the rest of my life… He made choices to do what he did, and now he must pay dearly for those choices. Wild animals are caged to protect society; this defendant needs to be incarcerated from society so that he cannot hurt anyone ever again.”

In December, TERRY was found guilty (1) count of Rape in the First Degree, a Class “ B ” Felony. TERRY was sentenced as a Second Felony Offender.

Between January 29, 2008 and February 1, 2008, TERRY forcibly raped a female victim by spitting on her, slapping her, choking her and pulling her hair while calling her vulgar names, and while the victim told him to stop.

ADA Christina Calabrese handled the prosecution of the case.
