John Jack Daly Pleads Guilty to Stealing $1.2 from NYS Nurses Association Faces 3 1/3 - 10 and Full Restitution

ALBANY, NY – ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JOHN JACK DALY, 46, of 26 Balboa Drive, Latham, NY pled guilty today to one count of Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin.

In pleading guilty, DALY admitted to having stolen over $1,000,000 from the NYS Nurse's Association by systematically issuing several checks made payable to himself and then cashing them while working as an employee of the Nurse's Association.

DALY faces a term of 3 1/3rd to 10 years and has agreed to make full restitution to the Nurse's Association prior to sentencing. "Getting full restitution for the nurses was the key to the disposition of this case," said District Attorney Soares. "In a world where nurses are routinely overworked and underpaid, we made getting the money back a very high priority. Fortunately, DALY claims to have the resources needed to make restitution. We shall see at sentencing whether he produces," Soares added.

Prosecutor Christopher Baynes, who heads up the White Collar Crime unit which prosecuted the case, will be available in the Albany County Judicial Building at 4:00 today to answer questions about the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 22, 2007.
