Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Robert Coffey Indicted Arraignment Scheduled for Tomorrow ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that ROBERT COFFEY, 28, of 33 Church Road, Albany, NY has been indicted on counts of Rape in the 1 st Degree, committing a Criminal Sexual Act in the 1 st Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2 nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7 th Degree. He is scheduled for arraignment before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 . The indictment alleges that COFFEY stated to his14 year old female victim that he had a gun and that he threatened that he would kill her if she tried to leave. He is further alleged to have then bound her wrists with plastic wrist ties and engaged in forcible sexual intercourse. Additionally, he is charged with possessing a quantity of cocaine. District Attorney Soares said that COFFEY is a dangerous sexual predator. “We believe that this was not an isolated incident and we encourage other victims to come forward to provide additional testimony. We also believe that there will be additional charges against COFFEY,” the DA said. If convicted on all counts, COFFEY faces up to 25 years in prison.
