Carlos Thompson Sentencing

ALBANY, NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that the sentencing of CARLOS THOMPSON, 26, of 51 Union Road, Spring Valley, NY, on one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

The defendant previously admitted that on or about the 6 th day of September, 2004 at about 12:40 AM, he did illegally possess a hand gun. THOMPSON was arrested by Officers of the Albany Police Department who were acting on an anonymous tip.

Soares praised the work of his staff, the Albany Police Department and the citizen who called in the anonymous tip. “Our efforts to rid our streets of guns and the people who illegally carry and use them depend on the prompt action of alert citizens,” he said. “In this case, a single tip lead to two arrests on weapons possessions charges since when the police showed up at the scene, a second man fled. This second individual was also arrested and will be standing trial this coming week.”

Sentencing is scheduled to take place before the Honorable Joseph C. Teresi on Monday, January 31, 2004. THOMPSON faces three years in state prison.
