Robert Perrin Pleads Guilty to

Weapons Charge

Faces 1 1/2

ALBANY , NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that ROBERT PERRIN, 17, of 245 Northern Boulevard , Albany , NY pled guilty to one count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3 rd Degree before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick. He faces a sentence of 1 ½ years in state prison with 1 ½ years of Post Release Supervision.

In pleading guilty, PERRIN admitted to being in possession of and discarding a loaded 22 caliber pistol on the 5 th day of January, 2006 in the area of Albany High School at 29 Kent Street in the City of Albany .

District Attorney Soares noted that there were only five weeks between the arrest and the guilty plea. “Operation Speeding Bullet is one of the tools that we are using to combat gun violence. We prioritize all gun cases so that defendants in gun crimes are taken off the streets as soon as possible. This case was indicted in five days and to obtain a guilty plea in four weeks is extraordinary” Soares said. “This young man had no record and an entire life ahead of him and now he is going to state prison. The message here is simple, ‘Carry weapons illegally here in Albany County and you will go to state prison,’”

Sentencing is scheduled for April 14, 2006 .
