DANTE TERRELL Indicted for Attempted Murder

Faces 25 Years

ALBANY, NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares announced that DANTE LAMONT TERRELL, 31, of 1 Norwood Avenue, Albany NY was indicted yesterday on two counts including Attempted Murder in the 2 nd Degree and Assault in the 1 st Degree. If convicted on the Attempted Murder count, TERRELL faces 25 years in state prison. He is scheduled for arraignment on Friday December 16, 2005.

The indictment alleges that on or about the 6th day of December 2005 at approximately 7:00 PM, at 1 Norwood Avenue, Albany NY TERRELL attempted to murder his 17 year old victim by suffocating her with a pillow and slashing her throat and plunging a steak knife into her chest. The victim miraculously survived by playing possum over a period of several hours while TERRELL attempted to hide the crime by dumping her out a window into the back porch. TERRELL was subsequently arrested by Officers of the Albany Police Department when he fled the scene and tried to hide by breaking into a neighbor’s house.

DA Soares expressed his admiration for the victim. “In this job you are constantly confronted by unspeakable acts of brutality and cruelty. But you also have the opportunity to come across certain individuals of unbelievable courage and strength. This young woman is not a victim, she’s a survivor,” he said.
