Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares DOMINIQUE DEVAN FIELDS Pleas Faces up to 15 Years ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced that DOMINIQUE DEVAN FIELDS, 19, of 226 First Street, Albany, NY pled guilty today to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon before the Honorable Joseph E. Teresi. Breslin. He faces a determinate sentence of no more than 15 years. Sentencing is scheduled for February 9 th, 2006. FIELDS had been indicted on ten counts on June 28, 2005 including Attempted Murder, several weapons counts and reckless endangerment. Today’s plea is in full satisfaction of all counts. In his plea, FIELDS admitted that on June 22, 2005, while in front of 291 First Street in Albany, NY, he did knowingly have in his possession a fully loaded Jennings Bryco 9 MM semi-automatic handgun and that when officers attempted to arrest him he fired this weapon in the direction of Albany Police Officer Sean Slingerland. DA Soares expressed satisfaction with the guilty plea noting that, “We have young people resorting to extreme acts of violence to resolve disputes. The only thing between law abiding citizens and a person like DOMINIQUE FIELDS is the courage of law enforcement. Officer Slingerland placed the public safety over his personal safety. He’s a Hero. He removed guns off the streets. By removing Mr. FIELDS from the community for up to 15 years, we have attempted to honor his heroism.” Back to Press Releases For further information contact: Richard Arthur
