David Soares announced today that EDGAR SOLER, 28, of 400 Central Avenue, Albany, NY, will be sentenced tomorrow was convicted of one count of Criminal Contempt in the 1 st Degree and one count of Aggravated Harassment in 2 nd Degreee after a jury trial before the Honorable Dan Lamont. The jury found that SOLER violated an order of protection signed by the Honorable Larry Rosen on December 19, 2000 and in effect until December 18, 2007, ordering him to have no contact with the victim of this crime. The jury also found that SOLER harassed the victim by calling at her employment and threatening to slap her if she called the Police. DA Soares noted that very often people wonder about the impact of Orders of Protection but that here is a case that shows the consequence of violating one. “Some call an Order of Protection just a piece of paper, but victims and perpetrators should look at this verdict and realize that when victims step forward, this Office will be there to stand by the 100%. SOLER violated the order of protection. The victim reported the harassment. We prosecuted and now SOLER faces a maximum of 2 to 4 years. That is the answer to the question of what happens when you violate an Order Of Protection, you face time,” he said. SOLER faces a term of two to four years.
