Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Rensselaer Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Albany Man Last Summer after Argument ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that ANDRE LOPEZ, A.K.A. “DRE,” 21, of Rensselaer, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” Violent Felony in front of the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick. In accordance with the plea bargain, LOPEZ will receive a 15 years in prison and 5 years post release supervision when sentenced on October 15, 2009. On August 30, 2008, at approximately 12:30 A.M. in the area of 551 Washington Avenue, IFO Weigel Beverage, in the City of Albany, ANDRE LOPEZ caused the death of Francisco De La Cruz by stabbing him in the chest with a knife after an argument between the two men.
